.38 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) cartridge was developed by John Browning in 1898. It was originally designed for use in the Colt Model 1900 semi-automatic pistol. The .38 ACP cartridge has a bullet diameter of .355 inches and a case length of .900 inches. Its standard load features a 130-grain full metal jacket bullet, traveling at a velocity of 1,050 feet per second. The .38 ACP cartridge was used by both civilians and law enforcement agencies, but its popularity declined after the introduction of the .45 ACP cartridge in 1911. It is still manufactured by a few ammunition companies for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage firearms.
