Acusilaus (fl. late 6th-early 5th century BCE) was a Greek mythographer, genealogist, and possibly a historian. Not much is known about his life, but he is believed to have been from the city of Argos in the Peloponnese. His most famous work was the "Genealogies" (also known as "Theogonies"), a collection of stories and genealogies of the gods, heroes, and mortals of the Greek world. The work is lost, but fragments have been preserved in later authors, such as Apollodorus and Pausanias. Acusilaus also wrote a history of the Peloponnesian War and a work on the religious practices of the Greeks. His writing reflects the mythological and religious beliefs of his time and was influential in later Greek literature and philosophy.
