What is addended?

An addended is a number to which another number, called the addend, is added. For example, in the equation 5 + 3 = 8, 5 and 3 are addends, and 8 is the sum. In this case, 5 is the first addend, and 3 is the second addend. The term "addended" is not used as frequently as "addend" or "sum" in mathematical terminology.
