What is adelfas?

Adelfa, also known as Nerium oleander, is a popular ornamental shrub commonly found in gardens, parks, and other landscaping projects. It is a highly toxic plant that contains several toxic compounds, including oleandrin, nerioside, and digitoxigenin.

Adelfas are evergreen shrubs that can grow up to 2-6 meters in height, with a similar width. They have long, pointed, narrow leaves that are around 10-30cm long and 1-3cm wide, which are arranged in whorls along the stems. Adelfas produce beautiful flowers in clusters at the end of each branch during the summer months. Flowers come in a range of colors, including pink, red, white, yellow, and salmon.

While adelfas are popular for their ornamental value, their parts are highly poisonous if ingested. The ingestion of just a few leaves can be fatal to humans and animals. The sap can also cause skin irritation and blindess if comes in contact with eyes. Therefore, caution should be taken when handling the plant and should be kept away from children and pets.
