What is advocation?

Advocation is the act of publicly supporting or recommending a particular cause or idea. It usually involves using one's resources, influence, and power to draw attention to and create awareness about the issue at hand in order to effect positive change. The practice of advocation is often performed by individuals, groups, or organizations that believe in a certain cause or hold a particular belief that they want to promote, raise awareness about or protect, such as environmental advocacy, animal rights advocacy, or social justice advocacy. Effective advocation requires strong communication skills, persuasive abilities, and a clear understanding of the issue being advocated for.
