What is affiant?

An affiant is a person who signs an affidavit, a written statement that is sworn to be true. The affiant must appear before a notary public or other authorized official to swear under oath that the contents of the affidavit are accurate. Affidavits are commonly used in legal proceedings as a way to present evidence or facts in a formal and legally binding manner. The affiant is responsible for the accuracy of the information contained in the affidavit and may be held liable for any falsehoods or misrepresentations.
