What is agang?

Agang is a political party in South Africa that was launched in 2013. The party was founded by Mamphela Ramphele, an anti-apartheid activist and former university vice-chancellor.

The party's focus is on promoting good governance, ending corruption, and promoting economic growth and job creation. It advocates for a more accountable and transparent government, a stronger civil society, and the empowerment of women and young people.

Agang has struggled to gain significant support in South Africa, and in 2014, Ramphele withdrew her candidacy for president, saying she had made a mistake by pursuing a merger with the Democratic Alliance opposition party.

Although the party has faced criticism and internal struggles, it remains committed to promoting social justice, equality, and democracy in South Africa.
