Algedi, also known as Alpha Capricorni, is a binary star system located in the constellation of Capricornus. The primary star, Alpha Capricorni A, is a yellow-white dwarf star with a spectral type of F1V. It has a mass about 1.7 times that of the Sun and is about 42 light-years away from Earth.
The companion star, Alpha Capricorni B, is a white dwarf star with a spectral type of A7-8V. It is much smaller and cooler than the primary star, with a mass about 1.3 times that of the Sun.
Algedi is one of the brighter stars in the Capricornus constellation and can be easily spotted with the naked eye. It is also known by its traditional name, Algedi, which comes from the Arabic al-jady, meaning "the kid."
Overall, Algedi is an interesting binary star system, with two very different stars orbiting each other and providing a beautiful sight in the night sky.
