What is amft?

AMFT stands for Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. This is a professional title used in the field of marriage and family therapy to describe individuals who have completed their graduate education and are working toward becoming licensed as Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). AMFTs work under the supervision of a licensed therapist to gain the necessary experience and clinical hours required for licensure.

AMFTs provide mental health services to individuals, couples, and families, with a focus on improving relationships, communication, and overall emotional well-being. They often work in a variety of settings including private practice, community mental health centers, schools, and hospitals.

To become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFTs must complete a certain number of supervised clinical hours, pass a licensing exam, and meet other requirements set by their state licensing board. Once licensed, they can practice independently and provide therapy services to clients without supervision.
