What is animedub?

The term "Animedub" refers to the dubbing of anime series or films into other languages. These dubs are often created for regions where the original language is not widely understood.

When creating an Animedub, voice actors are hired to replace the original Japanese voices with voices that match the movement of the characters’ lips. The script is also translated to the target language, while still remaining true to the original anime’s storyline, dialogue, and characters.

Animedubs can be controversial as some fans argue that the new voice actors may not capture the same authenticity as the original Japanese voice actors. However, they also allow anime to reach new audiences who would not be able to understand the original language.

Popular Animedub channels or websites include Funimation and Crunchyroll, which offer shows and movies with official English dubs, among other language options.
