What is aporol?

Aperol is a bright orange Italian apéritif made of bitter and sweet oranges, herbs, and roots, including gentian, cinchona, and rhubarb. It was first produced in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers in Padua, Italy, and is now owned by the Campari Group. Aperol is often served with soda water and a slice of orange, or as part of a cocktail such as the Aperol Spritz, which is a popular summer drink in Italy and around the world. It has a relatively low alcohol content, at around 11%.
