What is apqp?

APQP, or Advanced Product Quality Planning, is a framework used in the automotive industry for the design and development of new products and processes. It is a structured and systematic process that helps organizations ensure that new products meet customer requirements and are produced efficiently and effectively.

APQP typically consists of five phases: planning, product design and development, process design and development, product and process validation, and feedback assessment and corrective action. Throughout each phase, key activities such as risk assessment, design reviews, prototype testing, and production validation are carried out to ensure the quality and reliability of the final product.

The goal of APQP is to identify and mitigate potential risks early in the product development process, improve communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, and ultimately deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations. By following the APQP process, organizations can reduce the likelihood of costly errors, delays, and rework, leading to improved customer satisfaction and overall business success.
