What is araukarie?

Araucaria is a genus of evergreen trees that belongs to the family Araucariaceae. These trees are native to the Southern Hemisphere, with the majority found in South America, particularly in the Andes mountains, and some in Australia and New Guinea. The trees can grow up to 130 feet tall, and their leaves are needle-like and remain on the tree for several years. Araucarias are known for their distinctive cones that can take up to three years to mature, depending on the species. These cones are often used as decoration or as a source of edible seeds. Araucarias are also used as ornamental trees in gardens and parks due to their unique foliage and branch patterns. However, many species of Araucaria are considered threatened or endangered due to habitat destruction caused by human activities.
