Asari Dokubo is a prominent Nigerian political activist, businessman, and former militant who was born on 1 September 1964. He hails from Abonema town in Rivers State, Nigeria, and is a member of the Ijaw ethnic group. Asari Dokubo is the founder and leader of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force (NDPVF), a militant group that fought for the rights of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. He was arrested and subsequently released by the Nigerian government on various occasions, and his activism has often generated political controversies. Asari Dokubo is also a successful businessman who owns companies in the oil and gas sector, real estate, and transportation. He has been involved in various political campaigns in Nigeria and was an ally of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
