What is atlantid?

Atlantid is a physical anthropology term used to describe a sub-race of the Mediterranean race. The term originated from the myth of Atlantis, a mythical continent that supposedly sank into the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantids are characterized by tall stature, light skin, wavy or curly hair, and a dolichocephalic (long, narrow) skull shape. The Atlantid type is found primarily in the western Mediterranean region, including Spain, Portugal, and parts of northern Africa. Some researchers believe that the prehistoric megalith builders of Europe may have belonged to the Atlantid type. The term "Atlantid" is not widely used in modern anthropology, as the racial classifications of the past are no longer considered scientifically valid.
