What is avisos?

Avisos are a type of small sailing boat traditionally used in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America for coastal fishing, transportation, and trading purposes. These boats are usually made of wood and have a flat bottom and a high, pointed bow and stern, which make them suitable for navigating shallow waters and rough seas. Avisos typically have one or two masts and can be rigged with either a lateen or a gaff sail. They are often brightly painted and decorated with colorful motifs. In recent years, avisos have become popular recreational boats, particularly in Brazil and Argentina.
