What is backliner?

A backliner is a person who is responsible for setting up, maintaining and operating musical equipment for live shows or concerts. They work with musicians, sound technicians, and other members of the production team to ensure that all equipment is in good condition and functioning properly. Backliners perform tasks like unloading and loading musical equipment, setting up and testing musical instruments and amplifiers, organizing cables, and troubleshooting equipment problems during the show. They must be knowledgeable about different types of musical gear and have excellent problem-solving skills. Backliners typically work long hours during shows and may need to travel frequently.
