What is bacoside?

Bacoside is a class of bioactive compounds found in the plant Bacopa monnieri, also known as Brahmi. These compounds are mainly composed of triterpenoid saponins, with bacosides A and B being the most well-studied. Bacosides have been found to have numerous pharmacological properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and neuroprotective effects. They have also demonstrated positive effects on cognitive function, particularly memory enhancement and stress reduction. Additionally, bacosides have been found to have potential therapeutic applications in the treatment of neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
