What is barrabravas?

Barrabravas (also known as hooligans, ultras, or organized supporters) are organized groups of soccer fans in Latin America, particularly in Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia. They are known for their aggressive behavior and violent actions inside and outside of soccer stadiums.

Barrabravas are often associated with specific soccer clubs and are fiercely loyal to their team. They will often clash with opposing fans or police in fights, throwing objects, setting off flares, or vandalizing public property.

Many barrabravas have criminal backgrounds and are involved in illegal activities such as drug trafficking, extortion, and money laundering. Some even have connections to organized crime syndicates. However, despite their criminal activities, many barrabravas are idolized by some soccer fans and seen as champions of their team and of their local community.

Their influence is not limited to the soccer world as some barrabravas have been known to use their political influence to gain power and control over local neighborhoods. The problem of barrabravas is a persistent and complex issue in Latin America and various measures have been taken to combat their activities, including increased police presence in and around stadiums, tougher laws against soccer violence, and banning certain fans from attending matches.
