What is bibasilar?

Bibasilar is a medical term that refers to the lower parts of both lung fields. It is typically used to describe the location of abnormal lung findings, such as crackles heard on a physical exam or infiltrates seen on a chest x-ray or CT scan. Bibasilar abnormalities can be caused by a variety of conditions, including pneumonia, pulmonary edema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial lung diseases. Treatment of bibasilar abnormalities depends on the underlying cause and may include antibiotics, diuretics, bronchodilators, or immunosuppressive drugs.
