What is bodem?

Bodem refers to soil in Dutch and is an important component of the Earth's land surface. It is made up of a mixture of mineral particles, organic matter, water, air, and living organisms like bacteria and fungi. Bodem is vital for providing the nutrients plants need to grow, filtering and storing water, moderating the Earth's climate, and supporting biodiversity. In addition, it serves as a habitat for many different species of plants and animals, from tiny microorganisms to large mammals. However, bodem is also subject to degradation and pollution from human activities such as farming, mining, and urbanization, which can have serious consequences for the health of the ecosystem. Efforts are being made around the world to protect and preserve healthy bodem for future generations.
