What is broduce101?

Produce 101 is a South Korean survival reality show where contestants compete to form a boy band by voting and eliminating candidates. The show aired from January 21 to April 1, 2016, on Mnet, and became a massive success in Korea and beyond. The show has featured four seasons so far, including Produce 48, which included contestants from South Korea and Japan. Produce X 101, the most recent season, aired in 2019.

In 2017, Mnet announced a new reality show called the female version of Produce 101, called Produce 101 Season 1. The show featured 101 female trainees from various entertainment companies who would compete for a spot in a new girl group called I.O.I. The show aired from January to April 2016 and was well-received. It was followed by Produce 101 Season 2, which did the same but for male trainees.
