What is bwg?

BWG or Birmingham Wire Gauge is a system for measuring the size or thickness of wire used in electrical wiring. This system originated in Birmingham, England in the 19th century and is still commonly used today, particularly in the United Kingdom and some parts of the United States. In the BWG system, the higher the number, the thinner the wire. For example, a #10 gauge wire is thicker than a #20 gauge wire. The BWG system is useful in determining the amount of current a wire can safely carry and is used in electrical installations, industrial wiring, and other applications.
