What is candi?

Candi is a term used to refer to ancient Hindu or Buddhist temples and shrines in Indonesia, particularly in the central and eastern parts of Java Island. These structures were built between the 8th and 15th centuries and were adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, reflecting the art and architecture styles of the time. Some of the most famous and well-preserved candi in Indonesia include Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko. Many of these sites have become popular tourist destinations and are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
