What is capulina?

Capulina, whose real name was Gaspar Henaine Pérez, was a Mexican actor, comedian, and film producer. He was born on January 6, 1925, in Chignahuapan, Puebla, Mexico and passed away on September 30, 2011. Capulina gained fame for his slapstick humor and eccentric performances in Mexican cinema during the 1960s and 1970s.

He started his career as a comedian in the 1950s, working in radio, television, and theater before transitioning to film. He often starred alongside other popular Mexican actors such as Viruta (Marco Antonio Campos) and Tin Tan (Germán Valdés). Some of his most well-known films include "El Mundo de los Aviones" (1964), "El Chanfle" (1979), and "Simbad el Mareado" (1959).

Capulina was known for his distinctive appearance, characterized by his tall, lanky frame, comically expressive face, and signature bowler hat. He was adored by Mexican audiences for his hilarious antics and comedic timing, making him a beloved figure in Mexican popular culture.
