What is carbenoid?

A carbenoid is a reactive intermediate molecule that can be generated from a diazo compound or a carbene precursor. It is similar to a carbene, but with a more stabilized structure that allows it to be used in a wider range of reactions. Carbenoids are widely used in organic synthesis for a variety of transformations such as cyclopropanation, epoxidation, and olefination reactions. They can also catalyze reactions that are difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional reagents, and can be used to construct complex molecular structures with high selectivity and efficiency. Despite their usefulness, carbenoids are highly reactive and require careful handling to avoid dangerous or explosive reactions.
