What is carcal?

The caracal (Caracal caracal) is a medium-sized wild cat native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and India. It is distinguishable by its long tufted ears, short reddish-gold fur, and distinctive black markings on its face.

Caracals are known for their excellent hunting abilities, as they are able to leap high in the air to catch birds in flight or small mammals. They are primarily solitary animals, only coming together to mate and raise young.

These agile and athletic cats are also known for their ability to mimic the sounds of other animals, which helps them to confuse their prey and make successful kills.

Caracals can be found in a variety of habitats, including savannas, scrublands, and forests. They are listed as a species of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), although they are threatened by habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict in certain regions.
