What is casework?

Casework is a method used by social workers, therapists, and other helping professionals to engage with individuals and families in need of assistance. It involves assessing the individual's situation, identifying their needs and resources, developing a plan of action, and working with the individual to achieve their goals.

Casework typically involves building a trusting and supportive relationship with the client, providing emotional support, advocacy, and guidance, and linking the client to necessary services and resources. This can include connecting them with housing, healthcare, employment, education, financial assistance, and other forms of support.

Casework can be short-term or long-term, depending on the needs of the client. It is commonly used in social work, mental health, child welfare, and other human service fields to help individuals and families overcome challenges and improve their quality of life.
