What is chasmfiend?

Chasmfiend is a fictional creature created by author Brandon Sanderson in his book series "The Stormlight Archive". They are giant predatory beasts that inhabit the chasms of the Shattered Plains on the planet of Roshar. Chasmfiends have a tough exoskeleton that resembles black and red diamond-shaped plates, which can be harvested for valuable gems such as garnets and rubies. They have multiple sets of arms and legs and can grow up to 30 meters in length. Chasmfiends are capable of using lashings, which are magical abilities that allow them to manipulate gravity, making them incredibly dangerous opponents. They feed mainly on crustaceans, other chasmfiends, and the occasional human, which makes them a significant threat to the people who take part in the war on the Shattered Plains.
