What is conquian?

Conquian is a card game that originated in Spain in the 18th century and is considered to be the precursor to Rummy. The game is typically played with a standard deck of 40 cards (no 8s, 9s, or 10s) and can be played with 2-6 players.

The objective of Conquian is to be the first player to form a hand of 10 cards, either through melding sets of cards or by drawing from the deck and discarding unwanted cards. Players can form sets of three or four cards of the same rank (flush) or three or more cards in sequence of the same suit (straight).

The game has various rules regarding the order of play, drawing cards from the deck, and discarding unwanted cards. Players must be strategic in their decision-making and attempt to outwit their opponents to win the game.

Conquian has been popular in Latin America and is still played in some regions, although it has been largely overshadowed by other card games such as Rummy and Poker. It is a fun and challenging game that requires skill, strategy, and a good memory to be successful.
