What is daint?

Daint, also known as Piz Daint, is a supercomputer located at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) in Lugano, Switzerland. As of 2021, it is ranked as the seventh most powerful supercomputer in the world according to the Top500 list. Daint uses a hybrid CPU-GPU architecture, featuring 5,272 compute nodes each with an Intel Xeon processor and an NVIDIA GPU. The combined processing power of the system is capable of over 27 petaflops of performance. Daint is primarily used for scientific research, including climate modeling, astrophysics, materials science, and more.
