Danmarkshavn is a small Danish settlement located on the northeast coast of Greenland's Danmarkshavn Peninsula. The settlement has a population of around 10 people and serves as a weather station and a research center for the Danish Meteorological Institute. It was established in 1946 and has been continuously occupied since then.
Due to its location in the Arctic, the climate in Danmarkshavn is extremely harsh, with temperatures hovering around freezing even during the summer months. The landscape is characterized by rugged cliffs, glaciers, and sea ice. Despite its isolation and harsh living conditions, Danmarkshavn remains an important scientific and research outpost for scientists studying the effects of climate change in the Arctic.
