Dattebayo (だってばよ) is a Japanese phrase most famously associated with the character Naruto Uzumaki from the Naruto manga and anime series. It's a verbal tic, a meaningless phrase added to the end of Naruto's sentences.
The phrase itself doesn't have a direct translation into English. It's often described as adding emphasis or a childish exuberance to his speech. The author, Masashi Kishimoto, used it to give Naruto a unique and memorable personality and to distinguish him from other characters.
Different English translations have attempted to capture the essence of "dattebayo," with some using phrases like "believe it!" or simply omitting it altogether. However, the original Japanese phrase has become iconic and is widely recognized by fans of the series. Similar phrases with subtle differences are used by Naruto's son, Boruto Uzumaki, who uses "dattebasa", and his mother, Kushina Uzumaki , who uses "dattebane".
