What is dazzle?

Dazzle refers to a style of camouflage used on ships during World War I and World War II. It involved painting a ship with bold, contrasting geometric patterns to make it more difficult for enemy submarines to target accurately. The patterns were designed to confuse the viewer's perception of the ship's speed, direction, and size. This technique was invented by British artist Norman Wilkinson and was adopted by several navies around the world. Today, the term "dazzle" is also used to describe anything that is visually striking or impressive.
