What is defusion?

Defusion is a psychological technique that involves detaching ourselves from our thoughts and feelings. It is a part of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is commonly used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, and other mental health issues. Defusion involves acknowledging and accepting our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, and without judging them as good or bad. By practicing defusion, we can gain greater control over our thoughts and emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, and develop more positive, productive behaviors. Some common techniques for defusion include mindfulness exercises, visualization, and mental imagery.
