What is devgru?

DEVGRU, officially known as the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, is a specialized unit within the U.S. Navy SEALs that is responsible for counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and other high-risk operations. It is one of the most elite and secretive special operations units in the U.S. military.

DEVGRU was formed in 1980 and is headquartered at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The unit is composed of highly trained and experienced personnel, primarily recruited from the Navy SEALs, who undergo rigorous selection and training before being assigned to the unit.

DEVGRU has been involved in numerous high-profile operations, including the capture of Osama bin Laden in 2011 and the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates in 2009. The unit is known for its precision and efficiency in executing complex missions in hostile environments.

Due to the secretive nature of DEVGRU's operations, little information is publicly available about the unit's structure, capabilities, and activities. DEVGRU operates under the authority of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and works closely with other special operations units, such as Delta Force and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
