What is dimm.2?

DIMM.2 is a variant of the Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) form factor used in computer memory. It is specifically designed to support high-speed Solid State Drives (SSDs) that operate with Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) protocol. DIMM.2 modules are typically found on high-end desktop motherboards and use the PCIe interface to connect the NVMe SSDs to the system. The interface provides fast read and write speeds, which are ideal for applications that require high-performance storage. DIMM.2 modules are smaller in size compared to traditional DIMMs, allowing motherboard manufacturers to include more NVMe SSDs in a smaller footprint. They also feature built-in thermal solutions to help dissipate the heat generated by high-speed data transfer.
