What is droopy?

Droopy is a cartoon character created by Tex Avery and first appeared in the 1943 animated short, Dumb-Hounded. He is known for his low-key demeanor, slow and lethargic voice, and sleepy eyes. He is usually seen as a basset hound with a round belly, droopy ears, and saggy jowls. Droopy's calm and collected personality is often the foil to more manic and energetic characters in his cartoons. Despite his relaxed nature, Droopy is often seen as being smarter and more cunning than he appears and often outwits his adversaries. He has appeared in over 60 animated shorts and several TV shows and specials.
