What is dunum?

Dunum is a unit of land measurement used in the Middle East, dating back to ancient times. One dunum is equivalent to approximately 1,000 square meters or a quarter of an acre. It is commonly used to measure land for agricultural purposes, including crops and livestock. In some cases, dunum refers specifically to land that has been cultivated and is used for farming. The term is especially prevalent in Israel and Palestine, where it is used in land transactions and property assessments. It is also used in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
