The region is largely situated in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, but it also covers parts of Mongolia and Kazakhstan. The Dzungarian Basin, which is located in the region, is an important area for agriculture and has been inhabited by various ethnic groups throughout history, including Mongols, Uyghurs, and Kazakhs. Dzungarian played a significant role in the ancient Silk Road trade route, which brought merchants from across Asia to the region. Today, Dzungarian is still home to a diverse range of ethnic groups, including Kazakhs, Mongols, Uyghurs, Han Chinese, and others.
