What is echidnopsis?

Echidnopsis is a genus of succulent plants in the family Apocynaceae, native to Madagascar, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. These plants are often grown for their unique and attractive flowers, which are similar in shape and structure to those of Rhipsalis and Epiphyllum plants.

Echidnopsis plants usually have thick, fleshy stems and small, pointed leaves that grow in clusters along the stem. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and range in color from white to pink, yellow, or red. They emerge from the stem near the base of the leaves and are typically only a few centimeters in size.

Echidnopsis plants are generally easy to care for and prefer well-draining soil and bright, indirect sunlight. They are drought-tolerant and should be watered sparingly, only when the soil is completely dry. These plants can be propagated by taking stem cuttings and allowing them to root in a well-draining potting mix.
