What is embarrasing?

Embarrassing refers to a feeling of self-consciousness, shame or discomfort that arises when something awkward, unpleasant or inappropriate happens to a person or when they are in a situation that makes them feel exposed or vulnerable. Embarrassment can be triggered by a variety of events, such as tripping in public, spilling a drink on oneself, forgetting someone's name, or making a mistake in front of others. The experience of embarrassment can be overwhelming and may lead to blushing, sweating, stuttering, or a desire to hide or escape the situation. While it can be an uncomfortable emotion to experience, embarrassment is a normal and universal human experience.
