What is emqs?

EMQs stands for "Extended Matching Questions." These are a type of multiple-choice question format used in medical education and certification exams to test a broad knowledge base and application of clinical reasoning in a real-world setting. EMQs consist of a series of cases (usually about 10-20) and a list of options, which need to be matched to the cases. EMQs are often used in combination with other types of question formats such as single best answer questions and short answer questions to assess knowledge and understanding of a particular subject area. EMQs test higher-order thinking skills such as critical thinking and decision-making, making them a valuable tool for evaluating medical competence. The use of EMQs helps to ensure that medical professionals are well-trained and competent in their field, which is essential for the safety and well-being of patients.
