What is epistemic?

Epistemic refers to knowledge or the ways in which we acquire knowledge. It is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature, sources, and limits of knowledge. Epistemology explores questions such as how we know what we know, what constitutes reliable sources of knowledge, how knowledge is acquired, and what constitutes evidence. It is concerned with the basic concepts, assumptions, and principles underlying our thinking about knowledge and truth. Epistemology is important not only to philosophy but also to areas such as science, psychology, and education that rely on knowledge and evidence to make claims and draw conclusions.
