What is exadata?

Exadata is a database machine that is designed to provide high performance and scalability for Oracle databases. It is developed by Oracle Corporation and was first introduced in 2008. Exadata combines hardware and software technologies to create a high-performance database platform.

The hardware includes a high-speed InfiniBand network, solid-state disks, and large-capacity hard drives. The software includes Oracle database software and Exadata-specific software that is optimized for the hardware platform.

One of the key features of Exadata is its ability to offload database processing tasks to the storage layer. This allows for faster processing and reduced network latency. Exadata also includes advanced compression and columnar storage technologies that further improve performance and reduce storage requirements.

Exadata can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. It is available in multiple configurations to meet the needs of different applications and workloads. Exadata is often used for mission-critical applications that require high performance and availability.
