What is expose?

Exposé is a feature of the Mac operating system that allows users to quickly view all open windows and applications on their desktop. It was first introduced in OS X 10.3 Panther and has since been included in all subsequent versions of macOS.

Exposé can be activated in several ways, including using a keyboard shortcut, clicking an icon in the Dock, or using a multi-touch gesture on a trackpad. When activated, all open windows will quickly scale down and arrange themselves in an organized grid, allowing users to easily identify and select the one they need.

There are three distinct modes of Exposé:

  1. All Windows: Displays all open windows arranged in a grid.

  2. Application Windows: Displays all open windows belonging to the active application.

  3. Desktop: Hides all windows and shows the user’s desktop background.

Overall, Exposé is a convenient and useful feature for Mac users, allowing for quick and efficient navigation between open windows and applications.
