What is fibrocoxib?

Fibrocoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as a painkiller and anti-inflammatory medication. It is primarily used to manage osteoarthritis and inflammations in dogs. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit the cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme and reduce the production of prostaglandins that cause inflammation, swelling, and pain. It is available in tablet and chewable forms and is generally administered once a day with or without food. Common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and lethargy. Fibrocoxib should not be given to dogs with liver, kidney or heart diseases, or to pregnant or lactating dogs without consulting a veterinarian.
