What is firestairs?

Firestairs are a designated means of escape from a building in case of fire or other emergency. They are typically designed as a separate stairwell that is fire-resistant with fire-rated doors and walls to prevent the spread of fire. Firestairs are commonly located at opposite ends of a building, allowing occupants to access them regardless of the location of the fire. These stairs are also designed to be wider than normal stairs, allowing multiple people to use them safely and quickly. Typically, the doors leading to the firestairs are locked from the outside, but they can be easily opened from the inside in the event of an emergency. Firestairs are an important safety feature in any building and must be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure their effectiveness in an emergency situation.
