Friday Night Funkin' (FNF)

Friday Night Funkin' (often abbreviated as FNF) is a rhythm game developed by a team of four Newgrounds users: Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game was initially created for Ludum Dare 47 in October 2020 and quickly gained immense popularity for its unique art style, catchy music, and challenging gameplay.

The core gameplay revolves around the player, as the character Boyfriend, battling a variety of opponents through rhythmic music battles. The player must match the notes displayed on the screen by pressing the corresponding arrow keys in time with the music. Successfully hitting the notes increases the player's progress bar, while missing notes decreases it. The goal is to have a higher progress bar than the opponent by the end of the song.

The game is structured into "Weeks," each featuring a different opponent and a set of songs. Some notable opponents include Daddy%20Dearest, Pico, Mommy%20Mearest, Monster (also known as Lemon Demon), and many more.

FNF's open-source nature and simple engine have led to a thriving modding community. Mods allow players to experience new songs, characters, stories, and gameplay mechanics, significantly expanding the game's content. The modding%20community is a major contributor to FNF's ongoing popularity.
