Follobanen is a railway line in Norway that connects the capital city of Oslo to the suburban areas south of the city, including Ski and Moss. It is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2022.
The project is one of Norway's largest infrastructure projects and is aimed at improving public transport connections in the region, reducing travel time, and increasing capacity.
When completed, the new double-track railway line will be 22.5 kilometers long and will have four new underground stations: Oslo S, Ski, Langhus, and Moss. It is designed to accommodate high-speed trains and will significantly reduce travel time for commuters traveling from the suburbs to the city center.
The project will feature several innovations, including the use of the world's longest railway tunnel, measuring 20 kilometers, and the implementation of advanced construction techniques to minimize noise and environmental impact. The line is expected to carry around 64,000 passengers per day when fully operational.
